The Last Injury

Well it's the end of the year, time for our health insurance deductible to start over in January. So of course we waste $ on one last emergency Instacare visit. On the 29th Rafe was messing around and climbing up on the couch and was accidently pushed by Creed and fell off and hit his head on the edge of our ottoman leg. And Rafe had a big bloody deep gash in his head. It required 6 staples. Although, I think the Dr. could have done a better job and not used as many or tried stitches. But I guess hair was in the way, blah, blah. Sorry if the picture is too gross and bloody. I waited for a few washings in hopes the blood and hair would wash away, but I need to get this post done so I can send the blog to the printers. :)

Jax accompanied Rafe and I to the Dr. Jax is squeamish so he sat back and didn't watch. I was glad I didn't have to watch and could face Rafe and hold his hands. Rafe got a ninja wrap to keep some gauze on the back of his head to numb his wound. He was happy for a few minutes.
Poor guy, he can't lay on the back of his head. The worst spot to have a cut and staples. And he's been battling a horrible nasty cough as well. Off to a good start for January. (even though this is dated Dec.) All the boys in the house have had some sort of a cough. I'm the only one whose stayed healthy. Knock on wood. Rafe is our trooper. When he's not screaming, coughing his death cough, or endlessly whining because he's so tired and in pain. Then all the boys being home all day everyday. Ugh. I NEED to get away! Has school started back yet? Nope.
Let's hope it's a happy and great 2014! -And HEALTHY!

Our Christmas 2013

We had such a nice Christmas. A certain grown man is quite sad it's over. The boys sure enjoyed opening presents. Of course. We spent Christmas Eve at Greg's parents in Alpine. I don't have any pictures of that. But it was fun.

Christmas morning Jax woke up at 7am and so we had to get the rest of the boys up. I felt bad waking them up. But it was time, right?

Start of the day...

I love Rafe opening this present. His most favorite gift that he plays with all day everyday. (Thomas the Train castle track thing) He starts out ripping, throwing the paper behind him, then moves to his knees to get at it better. He was quite aggressive. He could see the picture and couldn't get into it fast enough. So much fun with little kids.

A few group huddles over some toys. Nothing like a classic Hungry, Hungry Hippos.

Middle of the day...

I always like to take a picture with all the boys sitting in the wrapping paper mess before we clean up. We had both my parents and Greg's come out to visit, I took a short much needed nap. And we all stayed in our PJ's all day long. Except Rafe, for some reason he insisted he gets clothes on.

End of the day...

Oh my word, video games all day and up to bedtime. And Greg's fire he built days before lasted till the evening and then we were out of wood. Shucks! I'm not a fan of the work, smell, and cold that goes into a real fireplace fire. I can sniff a campfire in my living room, the bedrooms are cold because the heater doesn't come on and poor Greg has a lot of work to do a fire. :) But it looks nice. And I do like it for about 5 minutes.

The day after...

Day number 2 of the boys in their PJ's all day. It was another relaxing day with nothing to do but play. More video games. They are obsessed with playing Minecraft. All 3 of the older boys can play on the PlayStation and there's no fighting because they all have their own land/screen.
In this picture, I had just filmed Jax and Creed singing their French X-mas song. They all lined up and were being silly. And most of our fruit you see on the counter is now gone.

2 days after...

I did make them get dressed finally and go out side for 15minutes and ride scooters. Bodie and Creed each received a bigger one for Christmas. And then we had some Williamsen cousins over for a sleepover. And I forgot to take pictures of that.

It's been a fun filled Christmas break so far.

All the Stuff

We've been busy doing all the stuff to get ready for Christmas. Ready or not... Christmas is coming!
I really wish I just had 2 more days to get ready and to be able to watch some Christmas movies and sit and listen to music and maybe have some people over to enjoy the spirit of the season. We are out of time.

Well on the 19th when we had one of the big snow storms we went to Jax's Dance performance they do every year at his school. It's with Tanner Dance Co. He had fun. I liked his class the best. They've been learning about spiders in his class so they did a spider dance mixed with Native American. Pretty cool.  I like that they get to learn modern interpretive dance. Well learning any dance. It's fun. Creed gets his turn the last half of the year.
The boys came home from school for the school break on Thursday (I don't know why the don't go on Friday like everyone else?) and they had learned several "funny" versions of the famous Christmas songs. Why can't my boys memorize and learn the real songs as well as the spoofs?

Saturday morning we went to our church ward breakfast x-mas party. It was fun and yummy. They had a fun little skit and some songs. And we all sang 2 songs. "Here Comes Santa Claus" and "Silent Night". And man, what is wrong with me? I actually got all teary during both songs. I must have a little Christmas Spirit hitting me. It was cool décor, like a winter wonderland.

And we went sledding one night. It was fun. Rafe only went down about 3 times but thought it was great watching his brothers and love wearing his "boops" -boots. And Creed seemed to wipe out every time. Bodie liked only going half way up the big hill and down again.

On Sunday we had my family Christmas party at my parents house. It was a fun time. The boys LOVED their gifts from grandma. She made all the grandkids blankets. What a hit, who knew? They love their fleece with a crocheted edge.

Tepanyaki

I think we've started a new tradition with our family for Christmas time. Not that it has anything to do with Christmas. But we like to have a nice dinner out during the holidays to make it nice and special to celebrate this time of year. And we've found a winner of a place! Greg and I loved seeing the delight in our boys. They still talk about it and couldn't get over how "awesome" it was. Having your chef grill your food right in front of you, with flames and fast chopping. It was really neat. It was a slow night, a big snow storm out made a great atmosphere.

Too bad the pictures are all so blurry.

Here's a few as the chef was throwing a piece of meat, well shrimp in the boys mouth. It was hilarious. They all tried it. With their eyes closed of course and food flying at their face. So the food would hit them and bounce off. They laughed and thought it was best. Flying food?!

Such a fun time. So glad we did it.

Pilgrim

In November Jax had to do a report about and make a family Pilgrim/Pioneer of an ancestor who came to America or Utah. So he chose his name sake, Vincenzo Lorenzon. He was so proud of his art work, back in the late 1800's and turn of the century men used to wear dark suits and top hats. And he even had a little picture of an ancestral home in Italy, (I've mentioned Poffabro before in Jan. 2009)  the class loved that and all wanted to see it. He's the only one that passed his around. We were both proud. So I had to share. :)

Jax is 9

Jax had his birthday. And he loved it. He insists on having his presents under the tree waiting for him. So we quickly put them under and he pulled them out. Then he divided them out to have his brothers help open them all. What?! Creed helped Rafe open one, and Jax did just one, and Bodie was able to do one - the main one. And he wasn't really surprised by any of it. He picked out the books he wanted. And he asked and assumed he'd get his cash he wanted and then he also knew he'd get an ipod (my old iphone). But I did surprise him with one thing. Anyways, how nice of him to share the thrill of opening presents with all of his brothers. I know the 2 little ones really appreciated it. I think he got the idea from Creed a few weeks ago. Maybe a new tradition is starting with that?

So the picture isn't the best, they are all scattered around. But I had to share the picture of them all opening Jax's presents.

I love this picture of the boys checking out Jax's apps.

He had a good day at school. It was also his Superstar week for his class, so he took 2 sets of treats that week and on Friday we had to have an activity for the students in class. So we made giant snowflakes. It was a success. They all loved it. It was work for me cutting all the 28" squares, and there was a lot of clippings to clean up off the floor, I don't think his teacher liked that. But oh well. It was fun.
Back to his birthday. We invited my family and Greg's family to see the lights at Temple Sq. only some of Greg's family was able to come. Jax thought it was great to do an activity like that for his B-day.
 Happy boy on his Birthday.

Then after the lights, we all went to Training Table for dinner and cake to celebrate. My parents drove out to meet us for cake. I am proud of my "artwork" on his cake. He is really into the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" books and wanted that for his cake. And voila! The second picture is Rafe helping him blow out the candles. And brothers and cousins watching him open presents.

Jax loves getting older. He is so excited to be going into Bears at cub scouts now. He totally feels like a big kid with his iPod. He loves the music and has watched the movies on it. I still can't believe we let him have one already. He also feels older because we let him watch the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and he hasn't been scared at night since seeing the movies, so he's brave now. Ha! We'll see. I did try and watch with him and "edited" out a few parts that I could remember. He continues to make his littlest brothers scream by pestering them. He loves to wrestle with Creed, until someone gets hurt. His favorite food is pizza, he loves chocolate and he is always trying to ask to be able to play with a friend. He is a stud!

Now if I can just get him to please cut his hair. Jax and Creed are growing it out. I hate it and tell them everyday I think they look like a shaggy dog. But their dad wants them to try it. Ugh!

Lights, Camera...

The night before the cold storm and freezing temperatures we went downtown to see the lights on Temple Square. It's a fun tradition. And it's always crowded and really cold. But this year was different. It was warm jacket weather and we were early enough in the evening it wasn't crowded. It was so great! I think Rafe was more excited seeing the Trax train more than the lights. It was a good year too. Some years the lights are ok and other years they do more and it looks incredible. This year it's incredible. I'm so glad we have it done. Some of Greg's family joined and we all went around together.

Here's the info on my pictures this year.
One without a flash and I had to try and expose it better to see the boys faces. They look super imposed or something. Then the second picture is with the flash. The lights don't look as glowy but we can see the boys clearly.

The giant red tree that I love. And then I was zooming while I took a picture of it. Then I love the walkway with all the lights. Notice how it's not crowded with people. And our family. I don't know why Greg is wearing a hat. It was nice.

This is my favorite picture I took. It shows the pink roses in the foreground, then lighted green bushes, trees and I love the lantern posts and the Nauvoo bell. And leaves on the trees.

And this kiddo turned 9!! He had a fun evening with the lights and more celebrating later.

Holiday Decor

The Christmas holiday is... Great! Always so great. The spirit, the feeling, everything. And for my children's sake or posterity for fun I wanted to capture what we have in our home every year. I have such vivid memories of Christmas and the decorations we had in our home and I want to be able to remember some of ours always.

Our 2013 tree for this year.
We have slowly switched ornaments over the years of being married. And I try and do different things, like ribbon, garland, beads, berries or whatever to make it different. And we've always purchased 1 new ornament for the year and I write the year on it. If I have a baby that year, it's one for them. We've done coordinating colors or themes, but this time I guess it's balls, all kinds of colors. And certainly the plastic non breakable kind. Boy I tell ya, we've lost many over the years. Jax and Creed had a hay day cleaning the tree off and crashing them on the tile floor just for fun when Creed was a toddler. Fun times. What were people thinking? I'm all about the shatter proof.

In no particular order...
I always decorate our kitchen table chandelier. But it's silly because it's totally not centered over the table. You have to be careful not to hit your head. We've tried relocating it, but there are no joists in the ceiling to anchor it to the better location. I try and switch up the hanging ornaments for different years. And the wreath on the door is one I made several years ago. And I have to hot glue a ball ornament back on every time we get it out of storage. Except this year! Yeah!

The string of Santa/Star lights are from my Grandma Jensen's x-mas tree that I got from my mom. Greg strings them over the TV. And the Christmas "moose" is a present from Greg's mom. When it has batteries it laughs and talks and sings really loud and scared our kids to death. I never wanted to hang it up (sorry LeeAnn), but Greg thought it would be fun and now we do it because it's a tradition I guess. This might be the last year it makes it out of the box. ;)  And the reindeer magnets for the fridge. Our boys love it. And anyone that comes over likes to play with it. They love to rearrange it, spell things, change the eyes, etc. I like that it's something any of my kids can help get out and put up.

The 2 versions of Santa Clause. I love the Russian Santa my mom gave Greg years ago. He served his mission there so it's neat to display from other parts of the world. And the Jolly Santa my sis-in-law Alecia painted and gave us as a gift one year. She chose this one because it had ski's and Greg is a skier. Well and now we all are or will be skiers. It's perfect.
*
And way on top of our book shelves Greg puts a Cookie Jar Santa and a porcelain white lit up tree that we also got from my Grandma Jensen's décor after she passed away. Oh yeah, and all the retro old plastic greenery, holly berries, n'stuff from my grandma as well. Cheesy, but it's up high so nobody sees it really? I tell myself.

Everyone has to have a train going around their tree right? We have the track out every year. But with little babies and toddlers it would only come out for parts of an evening once in a while. This year I think it might make it the whole season. We'll see if Rafe can keep his paws off it. He LOVES trains though, so I doubt he can contain himself. It's kind of a pain to always be putting it back on the tracks. Luckily Jax and Creed can manage that too and help.
*
And every year I say I want to buy a nice nativity. And I never do. We got this wood set one year and put it up in front of the TV. The kids can play with it. And I'm laughing as I type this because for some reason, EVERY YEAR we manage to forget about it and it doesn't make it into the X-mas storage boxes after x-mas. So we stick it in a grocery sack and put it in our pantry so that the next time Greg does out to the shed, he can put it away. Then it sits ALL year. And the next December we know right where it is and pull it out from the pantry again.

Oooh, now for ornaments. Or as Jax's calls them, Ordaments. I'm pretty sure when I was little I did too. This year my favorite ornament is this metal glittery Santa. It was our yearly ornament from last year. I love the colors. A hot pink nose and skates, pretty lime green and red, it's fun. I didn't ask Greg his favorite but I'm going to say it's this white/silver Russian (Orthodox church building) that my mom also gave to Greg years ago. It is breakable, so we are careful with it and don't let the kids near it. Tucked away in the higher part of the tree.

Jax's favorite ornament is his broken metal Reindeer. I have a set of metal/silver ornaments. I got them before I was married. They are heavy so they are always at the bottom of the tree. When Jax was 2 he was playing with this one and it fell and hit the tile and one side of the antlers broke off. We've told him the story and how he'd carry it around with him and so he loves it now. He calls it his. And always has a special place to hang it up.

I over heard the boys talking about their favorite ornaments, and Creed said this was his favorite one. (this year). It's old, I don't know where I got it? Maybe my mom's old stash, or my grandmas? It's just a tinsel one. And then I asked Bodie what his favorite was and he said the he likes the one Creed likes. That's his favorite right now too.

I asked Rafe, he stared pointing to different ball ornaments. He kept coming back to a small green one. But for the picture I chose to show the ONE that Rafe saw, got so excited about an M&M and he put it up all by himself. He touches it everyday. So I'm saying it's really his favorite.

These last few I just wanted to mention. The boys love the movie Rudolph. I suppose all kids do. I love all the classic x-mas movies that have lasted generation after generation. I got the Abominable Snowman figure from the movie several years ago. The boys were so excited. But it's breakable. And they fight over who gets to hang it up. So it's one I stick up high and don't let them touch it now. We've already glued it once.
And then the green little light bulb ornament, well I have a bunch of these. And without fail, when we get the stuff out and open up the tree to decorate, we always find one forgotten ornament from the previous year. And it's ALWAYS one of these small lights.
I couldn't forget about our Savior. It's Olive tree wood. And I got it from somewhere, again either my mom or grandma's stuff. And sometimes I'll hang dangling stuff around our tree. I got out the shimmery snowflakes again. They go with our Snowflake tree topper.

I forgot to get a picture of the miniature trees we have in each of the boys rooms. The love them. Jax especially loves all the light it gives off as he's falling asleep.

So we are ready, let the holidays begin! But first we celebrate Thanksgiving!

Creed's Day

Creed had his special day. Holy Moly - how is he already seven? We were bummed that Greg was out of town on his companies annual conference - again on Creed's B-day. But it was business as usual, at home that is. I had everything ready for his B-day morning. He was so excited to get a new big bike. He screamed at the color, orange! His current favorite. The first present he went to open, he handed it to Rafe to have him help and get to open one. Aw, how sweet! So they are opening them together. He wanted cash, and he needed socks. The socks were in hopes that he won't complain every-single-day when he puts them on that they feel weird, don't fit, or whatever the issue is that day. So far, so good. Phew!

He was also quite excited about his new Chess board game. As you can see his happy face. He just recently learned to play, thanks to Aunt Amy. And he really wanted to be in the school's Chess Club. So he's been doing that as well.

A little Chess before breakfast. Love his concentration face. And I love how his little brothers are right there watching their every move.
After school we had my parents come out for an early dinner and cake to celebrate. (Greg's mom had come a few days before) And then at 6pm that night, we took him to one of his best friends B-day party. They share the same birthday. And since Greg was gone, my parents had something that night, and Greg's mom came up early in the week. We figured, why not go to a friends party. So he did.

Creed wanted a Skylander's Birthday cake. Although I know he wanted a game figure piece on his cake to use on the video game. But I refuse to buy anymore Skylander's. So he got some cupcakes with printed out skylander's on them. He didn't even notice the cupcakes were laid out in a number 7. It took him like 3-4 puffs to get his candles blown out.

And if you ask him how his day was, or if he liked his presents, or if he had fun, he'll answer by SCREAMING "YES!" - cover your ears.

Creed is doing well in school. He often gets coupons for perfect spelling and good school work. He comes home and wants to get his homework done right away (mainly to be able to play video games). He is picky about what he eats in his home lunch and half the time won't want school lunch either. It was neat, the other day he asked Jaxon to help him say a phrase in French because he had to show off his animal habitat he has been doing in class and they were having some French people come in and see them. So he wanted to be able to speak to them.

He has a funny laugh. And is always trying to play with Rafe or comfort him. He always want to play games, board games, video games, on my phone. He's always asking. He loves taking showers and enjoys the hot water for along time. I asked Greg what he would say about Creed on here and he said, Creed is energetic, bright, resourceful, very analytical and book smart.
He is great and we love him so much!

Latest

The latest that's been happening... I finished Rafe's baby blanket/quilt - finally. It looks like a 5 year old sewed it. But it's done, he's 2 1/2 and it's better late than never. My mom was kind and told me it was fine, Rafe wouldn't notice the details and would love it. So here's to hoping. That night I captured this picture of Rafe sound asleep. He sometimes likes his blanket, other times I see he's thrown it on the floor.

Creed is all done with soccer. He was bummed and really wanted to keep playing. He asked to do it again soon. And Millcreek Rec Center had THE BEST Trophy Ceremony ever!! They lined the kids up, and loud music over head played while they received their award. It was none other than the Star Wars theme song. I heard the younger group got the Olympic Theme music. Creed was all smiles and so happy and proud. It was funny. We were making fun of it at the same time as loving it!

In one month it's Christmas day. Thanksgiving is this Thursday. And my hubby is a Christmas Fanatic. So we put up our x-mas décor on Saturday. We are set and ready to enjoy the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. No work, just play and relax. I left out the little Turkey Day décor that I have. So our table has 2 center pieces. Combining both holidays. What's better than that?

Um, what else? Oh, Jax, oh Jax. He is my scaredy cat child. He is getting worse I tell ya. He's always too scared to go down to his room by himself. He's always asking tough Rafe or Bodie to please run down with him. And if ANYTHING remotely scary or possible to put thoughts in your mind that he sees or watches, you bet he gets a nightmare or won't go to sleep. He insists on having lights on. It's driving me crazy. It's supposed to get better as they get older right? What is his deal?

We have Bodie signed on to do a Speech Therapy Class. Creed did the same one. And during Bodie's evaluation with the school district, he failed in practically every sound. So yeah, he'll be needing some help and training. Me too, so I can help him.

Not Forgotten

Our little family likes to go on walks. Usually a Sunday evening. It gets us out of the house and we usually always walk to the same place. The boys love to go to the "bridge" - pedestrian walkway that goes over I-215 by the Jr. high. And then they love to run and play on the field and roll down the grassy hill. Hmm, we just did it this last Sunday night. I didn't think to take a picture.

But I didn't want to forget about this picture. I just love this photo. I took it this summer (June 23 to be exact). I love how Jax and Creed are in the back walking together. Bodie got tired, so we let him ride in the stroller and hold Rafe too. We were almost home. We were about to climb the "killer" hill. You know, where you have to walk on your toes it's so steep. Normally we avoid that route home.

I mentioned we gave away our double stroller just a few weeks ago. But usually we would have that. And Bodie would climb in and out whenever he felt like walking or riding. Or Creed, or Jax. Whoever was riding at the time over the years. Lots of walks. And sometimes, we've tripled up on our single stroller. Just picture someone riding on top by the handle bars. I'm surprised we haven't popped a tire.
I love our family walks, good talks, lots of exploring, and we never manage to bring enough water!

Fall Outtings

Going through the pictures and I found some I was going to add. So back in Sept. we went to Skyline's football game. Supporting some of Greg's YM in our ward. It was fun, but it was way too cold. So at half time we called it quits. I don't even know if they won?

And this is how Greg and the guys ate during the elk hunt this October. Crab, steak, and Twinkies. He had a fun time and no antlers to report this year.

Here are our boys while we were in San Diego. They went to the Farmington Pumpkin Patch with my mom and the Williamsen cousins. There's g-ma April, Rafe, Liam, Jax, Owen, Creed, Reagan, Erin, and Bodie climbing the back. And Amy took the picture -thanks.

We took advantage of Snowbirds Food Bank/Appreciation day and took the tram to the top last Saturday. It was like 66 degrees in the valley, 53 at the base of the tram and like a very windy 32 degrees at the top. Oh boy it was sure cold. I came better prepared than our friends. We had our winter coats, hats, and gloves. They only had jackets and flip flops. It was pretty and always neat.

I love Creed bracing himself because of all the wind and cold. I think that's why my eyes were closed. Snow crystals blowing in our face.

We went into the warming hut while at the top. It was crowded with people. And cute Bodie whipped out his little notebook and pencil and started drawing in the middle of the crowd. He is so funny. He's been taking this little notebook he got from G-ma Lorenzon everywhere. To church, in the car, all over the house, and now to 11,000 feet. He has now mastered the letter "B" - for Bodie.

Soccer for Creed

Creed chose to do indoor soccer this fall. Yay for me! I love when sports are indoors. He was sick and had to miss last week. But he was ready to go this last Saturday. Although he did get his lingering cough going quite well. He made a goal, and ran and kicked as mush as he could. And perhaps half of his kicks missed the ball but he'll get better. :)

Jax sure had fun yelling and cheering Creed on. We had to tell him to tone it down. And these two little brothers kept busy and entertained playing on the floor. Lovely.

Our Halloween

I love Halloween. It's a weird but always fun holiday. Getting dinner, putting on costumes, getting ready for Trick-or-Treating, taking pictures is always the part I hate. It gets so frantic (for me). This year I wanted to avoid that. And I did! We started costumes early and had pictures done and had time to spare before heading down to a neighbors house for a big soup party. I didn't have to fix a meal and force my kids to eat it. We ate and left straight from the party with some friends in our ward and T-or-T till the little ones were done. We drove back up to our part of the neighborhood to make the rounds in our area. Then Creed came back with Greg, after all he is still getting better from being so sick. And Jax stayed out a little longer with his buddy Gavin. After eating candy, checking out the candy loot, and playing a random game of Uno. We put our little rascals to bed. Too bad Greg had to work on Friday. The boys didn't have school, so it was like a weekend night for us.

Poor Rafe was TERRIFIED of the ghost mask. He would cry, run and scream when he saw it or his mean brothers would try and show it to him. And it didn't end there. He apparently doesn't like any face paint either. All during the boys school parade of costumes, Rafe would turn and hide into me. Even if it wasn't scary. He was scared of Jax and Aunt Amy (she was a zombie) who came by to help and did Jax's make-up. We tried to explain to him and show him it's not scary and it's fun, etc. And it worked a little. But still he is scared. But he's 2. So I don't blame him.

So here are our freaky Ghost, the Grim Reaper, a Skeleton, and Superman. Notice how Rafe is on the opposite side of Creed's ghost. And Jax insisted he use the devil pitch fork instead of our scythe. I had to look up the name of the Grim Reapers real weapon. :)

I love this photo. Creed looks like he painted his face white to be a ghost. But no, he's just pail white. Jax is reaching using power to be scary, Bodie's little growel face, and Rafe flying like Superman! I should have used the Superman for Rafe last year. Little did I know he'd be such a tall one and out grow the suit. But I had to use it. All his brothers were superman. Tradition, right? I'm kinda sad to see it go. I'll hold on to it I guess. :)

4 kids, 4 different directions. It was running from house to house, and not one of our kids was staying together. We had 3-4 families going around together. It was kinda crazy at times. We kept getting split up. And yelling around for each other to wait up. I managed to get a quick picture of each of the boys running and going house to house. It was a cold year, but they sure stayed warm.

Back at home at last! Rafe thought eating all this candy was great. Bodie did too, between drinking and relaxing. And Bodie loved answering the door and holding the candy bucket for the kids at the door. One last picture of Jax's face he was so proud of before washing it off. And then on Nov.1st gathering and boxing up all the Halloween decorations.
